We would love to adopt a child from newborn to 3 or so years old.

Hello!

We are Dan and Mandy and we are so excited to be able to tell you more about us and how much we look forward to growing our family through adoption once again. We both feel strongly that you are taking the most courageous and difficult path with your decision and we admire you more than we can ever say.

About Us

Our story began in over 8 years ago. We became fast friends and from friendship, we fell in love and were married. We balance each other out perfectly and feel so fortunate everyday that fate has brought us together. We were both fortunate to have happy childhood’s and we can't wait to pass along some of those memories, traditions and experiences. We want our children to have the best experience possible including all of the opportunities and blessings that we can provide to them. Dan has a brother that was adopted by his father and stepmother as a teenager so he has a special understanding of created families and is eager to share the same unconditional love and support he gave and received through this adoption. Both sides of our family can't wait to welcome another child into the family.

We have talked about children all through our relationship. We both often discussed having a biological child but we both felt very strongly that we wanted to adopt a child as well. Dan remembers back to his early 20's and time he spent in the military and strong desire to one day adopt a child. For Dan adoption was always his first choice. Mandy started thinking about adoption in her teens. Suffering from some medical conditions that would likely make it difficult to have biological children some day, Mandy spent a lot of time thinking about this and realized early on that what was most important was being a mom and sharing parenthood with the man she loved. So, for both of us, after suffering from infertility, it was an easy decision to begin our journey of adoption. On our journey of becoming adoptive parents we learned more about foster care and the need for families in our area for teenagers in the foster care system. We have been foster parents for 2 years now and love being able to provide a lovong home to these children. We have recently been blessed with a beautiful son, Daniel, he came to us through an open adoption. He joined our family in July of 2005.

About Dan!

Dan works for the government as a contractor to the Airforce. He has a very strong commitment to family and has a love for his country. This is shown by his last 14+ years with service to the army either in active duty (where he served in places such as Korea, Germany, Bosnia, Hungry, and United States) and then as a contractor. Dan is a member of a local rugby team/social club, and we enjoy spending many weekends with our friends and their children at rugby games.

About Mandy!

Mandy is a project leader for a clinical application for Johns Hopkins Hospital. She also has a background as both a paramedic and firefighter. She has the same caring and compassion for her family that she does in her job. She loves the healthcare service and has spent her entire career in it. While Mandy loves her job, she is also looking forward to becoming a mom once again. While Mandy is lucky to have a very flexible work schedule, she will spend many months at home on childcare leave with our new child. While Mandy will not remain a stay at home mom, we are very fortunate to have a very good family friend who will be caring for him/her while we are at work.

What we do for Fun!

We love to spend time together and truly enjoy each other's company. We love to go to movies, have dinner with friends or just the two of us, travel and hanging out at home with our "fur babies". We also love to spend time with baby Danny, he is a real joy to be around and we are looking forward to welcoming home a new brother or sister for him. Traveling is one of our passions in life. Both of us have traveled to many different countries both together and separately. This is a passion we hope to share with our children! Much of Mandy's family lives in Scotland and Bermuda, and we travel to see them as much as possible. We love to get out and experience everything we can. In the summer we love to go on weekend adventures like white water rafting, and traveling to Lake Placid New York and going bob sledding at the Olympic park. We especially like to spend time on the Chesapeake Bay boating with Mandy’s parents. They have a power boat that can host many of our family and friends, and we spend many weekends just spending time with those most important to us. In the fall we love to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. We love to attend parties. Winter time brings fun in the snow. Throughout the holidays we spend a lot of time with family and friends. While the spring rain may keep us indoors a bit more, we enjoy things like going to the aquarium, science center or the new spy museum!

We live in a four-bedroom home in a suburban community in Maryland that is close to the Chesapeake Bay and half way between Baltimore and Washington DC. It is in a great neighborhood with families and kids of all ages. Our house is just minutes from the grade school and a community park, playground and an olympic size swimming pool. We have lived in our house for just over a year now and have spent lots of time making it ours!

Our Family and Friends!

We are very fortunate to have wonderful family and friends that we love very much! Our families and friends are very much involved in our lives, spending the holidays together, taking vacations together, and just talking. We have 3 brothers and 1 sister between us. We have 3 nieces and 1 nephew, as well as 2 godchildren. They range in ages from 1 to 8 years old. This extended family is waiting with an endless amount of love and support for our new child. Our family is a melting pot of heritages (Mandy's maternal side is all from Scotland, Dan’s maternal side is largely Native American, and one of Dan's brothers has a partly Hispanic background). We like to celebrate all of these heritages and consider ourselves blessed to have such diversity in our lives.

Open Adoption!

We both feel strongly that it is our destiny for us to grow our family through adoption and we feel excited and blessed about the opportunity. If you choose us to be the parents of your child, please know that we are committed to raising them with the knowledge and understanding of their adoption and how special your gift and decision for your child truly is. We look forward to being able to offer our love and experiences to this child. We will offer them a loving, supportive and fun environment and every opportunity to grow and learn to become the best person they can be. We are open to all kinds of adoptions. We realize that each birth family has there own comfort level on how open they wish for the adoption to be, and we fully understand and respect this decision. We are very excited about the opportunity to become a part of your family, and you a part of ours, and will always make sure that our child knows that his/her birth family loves them very much. We are currently in an open adoption with baby Danny’s birthparents and we look forward to another open or semi-open adoption or closed adoption.
